Gallery of Stonework Undertaken
Launceston Town Hall dates back to 1887 and during 2010 underwent extensive renovation and upgrading which has resulted in a stunning property. StoneCo's involvement with the project in December 2010 was to carefully by hand, apply existing finish stripping agent and remove residues in accordance with current regulations to the Victorian tiled floors. The traditional tessellated flooring was then thoroughly cleaned by hand to remove dirt and grime using suitable eco-friendly detergents and natural bristle brushes, and a protective metallised emulsion polish was then applied for final protection of the newly cleaned surface. During the course of the works, minor reclaimed tile repairs were undertaken with care to preserve as much of the original internal as possible. The Duchess of Cornwall reopened the Town Hall on the 15th March 2001 where she personally thanked all those who played a part in the renovation/conservation project. |
Years of paint were stripped away using Stonehealth`s DOFF system, to reveal fine stonework in reasonably good condition. After plastic repairs to the crumbling concrete periphery of this impressive south facing gable pediment, conservation and restoration works have left the lady in fine form to brave the elements for many more years to come.
